First arts conversation in Copenhagen
In September we held the first Arts Conversation in the Danish demo case of INNATURE in Copenhagen. It was made as a performance lecture on rainwater by artist Maj Horn.
Thank you to everyone who participated!
The performance lecture was part of the annual Harvest Festival in the common housing area of Lundtoftegade where the demo case is located – where rainwater is a big issue.
Therefore, the performance lecture was about rainwater. It explored what it means to know rain, and how different beings – such as trees, plants and worms – experience it differently; The history of the umbrella; How rain constantly transforms into other bodies of water as part of the deep-time hydrological cycle; and on the changes in rainfall patterns and volumes, and how this shape current and future landscapes.
The performer behind was Maj Horn who is a local visual artist who has been working in Lundtoftegade over the past three years. Her practice weaves together art, ecology, ecocritical thinking and collaborative processes. She invites participants to become co-creators in performances and workshops that often explore how knowledge is created, shared and made meaningful.
Materials used: Tap water, 3 L hydraulics reservoirs, used umbrellas, steel hooks.
The performance marks the beginning of Maj's new artistic research project, 'Flock of Green', hosted by AKK – Almene Kunstklubber as part of INNATURE.
The harvest festival was created in a collaboration between the permaculture garden Skovhavelunden, Til Vægs, AKK – Almene Kunstklubber, and INNATURE, with support from: Områdefornyelsen (City of Copenhagen), the Danish Arts Foundation, and EU.
