The INNATURE Demo Case 4 Copenhagen Rain Commons explores how rainwater is and can be valued and imagined as a common resource. This work is directly linked to ongoing NBS initiatives on site that contribute to transitions in urban water infrastructure through demonstrating small-scale drainage solutions and permaculture design that retain water on site and address drought and mitigation of rising temperatures.

Rain Commons that is located in the housing area of AKB Lundtoftegade, technically tests how stormwater management can support large-scale systemic transitions in urban common housing contexts, and how permaculture principles can be embedded in local community-garden practices. Rather than channeling rainwater away, the Copenhagen Rain Commons uses arts practices to mobilise these technologies, as well as shared histories and imaginaries of rain across social, cultural and ecological dimensions. In this way, arts actions and Arts Conversations contribute to engaging communities in the implementation and long-term upkeep of nature-based-solutions in common housing estates.
